Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
Tintline numbers are for lawful verification and messaging on accounts that belong to you. The restrictions below exist to protect other customers, our carrier relationships, and the public.
You may
- Verify or secure your own accounts and services (two-factor codes, login confirmations, signups).
- Protect your personal number's privacy when a site requires a phone number.
- Receive SMS for testing your own applications, with your own content.
- Use the API to automate any of the above for your own organisation.
You may not
- Use numbers for any illegal activity, fraud, scams, phishing, money laundering, or to deceive any person or service about your identity.
- Create or verify accounts in someone else's name, or for a third party who is not your organisation, without their authorisation.
- Verify or access accounts at banks, payment providers, brokerages, cryptocurrency exchanges, government portals, insurance or healthcare providers unless the account is genuinely yours and that provider's terms allow it.
- Evade bans or suspensions imposed by any service, or mass-create accounts in violation of a service's terms.
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or intercept communications intended for someone else.
- Share, sell, rent, or publish numbers or access to them, or operate a public "receive SMS" inbox using our numbers.
- Attempt to send SMS or make calls from our numbers, port them, or interfere with the gateway.
- Open multiple accounts to abuse promotions, refunds, or rate limits.
Enforcement
We monitor for abuse signals (volume, refund patterns, reports from services and carriers). Violations lead to suspension or termination, forfeiture of credits where the violation is serious, and cooperation with law enforcement where required. If you are unsure whether a use is allowed, ask support before you proceed.
Reporting
To report abuse of a Tintline number, contact support with the number, date and time, and a description. We respond to every report.
